Australian city found ingenious way to combat water pollution
Plastic pollution and floating debris in water resources around the world is an ever-growing, global problem that poses a mortal threat not only to humanity, but also to wildlife. Fortunately, sometimes the simplest solutions turn out to be the most effective. This year, the whole world heard about the Australian city of Quinana. And that's why.
Back in March 2018, two sewer networks were installed in the Henley Nature Reserve in Quinana.
Networks, including production, installation and additional work, cost the city about $ 20 thousand.
After installation in March, for 4 months, the networks stopped 370 kg of garbage from entering the water.
Mayor Carol Adams says the local community has always been especially serious about environmental initiatives.
After city officials made a Facebook post about this project, it became viral within 48 hours.
